ABOUT ME

Current Activities

I am currently a student with the Open university and am currently seeking a work placement to undertake during my next course which is E111 - Supporting learing in Primary schools. I am also working in an after school club with 4 - 11 year olds, so have more experience with the primary age group.

I have a lot of experience working with children, and have volunteered as a teaching assistant before. I am also involved with coaching tag rugby and have undertaken the appropriate RFU tag rugby course.

I am also volunteering with the Hand in Hand volunteer service which is part of Torbay Council early intervention service. I have been involved with mentoring and school projects.

Recent training has included First Aid, Promoting positive behaviour, Active club traning (aimed at playworkers to help kids be more active) and Child protection.

I am interested in using and promoting Free and Open Source software and as part of this have created some resources released under the creative commons license. These can be found by clicking on the portfolio tab. I currently use Ubuntu 9.04.

I would like to see more school using Free software and also more schools giving children / young people access to GNU/Linux and other systems to ensure a wider and more interesting ICT experience within schools.
